Of all the times to turn a show into a fanfest, I would think a 50th Anniversary celebration of Doctor Who would be the time.
You know, a fanfest. Those people who have supported and viewed and got excited about and cosplayed for and bought countless amount of merchandise for the show. The people who came to cons and bought audio CDs and dressed up in a long scarf or pinned celery to their jacket or yelled ‘Allons-y’ through the streets. The people who have been watching for 50 years or a single 50 minute episode. It’s a time to celebrate that show and pay a bit of homage to the fans, you know? Give us a bit of fanservice.
But, you’re right Moffat. It has to contribute to your story.
